Paul: looking back, looking forward

I spent about 50 days in Vietnam in 2009. I wish it could have been more, as 50 days is not near enough time to get my fill of pho. Pho is the one food I think I could easily eat every day and not get tired of. Sometimes I will eat it twice a day. Although there are many very good Vietnamese dishes, for me pho is the best.

I think we did about 140 scholarships this year in Tho Thanh village. The Save-a-Life program is going well and Mr. Thanh is handling things well in Vietnam for us. This summer, I hope we can take some folks to Vietnam to see first-hand the good works we are doing.

This year marks 20 years that I have been going back to Vietnam. Where has all the time gone. All of life should move as slow as that 20 hour plane ride to Asia.

That brings us to 11

Since October, Paul's Kids has helped save 11 lives through Save-A-Life donations.

2009 ended on a high note with three more children receiving heart surgeries. Thai Phuong Khanh, Pham Bao An, and Luu Quoc Thanh all had surgeries to address their ventricular septal defects and were discharged January 8.

Mr. Thanh, our local staff person, will continue to oversee the management and growth of the Save-A-Life program. Mr. Thanh’s continued work assures that donor dollars go where they are most needed—to help give needy kids in Vietnam a fighting chance at survival.

For this year's Tet Party we only have room for 160 people. Please reserve your spots by January 30.

Ticket prices are:

Adults: $35
Kids (6-12): $15
Kids (0-5): $5

Included in the price is an all-you-can-eat Vietnamese buffet catered by Green Papaya Restaurant of Exton, including appetizers, entrees, desserts, and sodas.  

A majority of the ticket price goes toward supporting Paul's Kids projects for 2010, as does the funds raised from the silent auction and the 50/50 raffle.
