Who is Paul?
Paul Pinkerton fought on the frontlines in the Vietnam War. For years after, he devoted his energy to POW/MIA activism. In a self-financed rogue venture to Vietnam, Paul located the remains of five fallen soldiers. On subsequent trips, Paul and his wife, Sandy, encountered orphans living in squalor. Unable to ignore these disadvantaged children, they adopted their first son. They have since expanded their family with two more Vietnamese children. Paul describes his children as his “salvation.” Wanting to share the transformative experience, he and Sandy helped over 300 families to adopt, including Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Saddened by the reality that not every child can be placed, Paul and Sandy took further action. In 2004, they co-founded an organization that helps improve the lives of Vietnamese orphans, particularly those who are unlikely to be adopted.
Shortly thereafter, doctors diagnosed Paul with prostate cancer, likely a result of his exposure to Agent Orange during his Vietnam War service. Rather than abandon the endeavor, Paul committed to push forward and focus his energy toward something positive; in 2007, Paul's Kids Vietnam Children's Charity officially launched.
Paul's Kids has accomplished many life-changing works for severely disadvantaged children that have earned Paul positive press worldwide. And, Paul's remarkable journey continues as a well-known and respected humanitarian both abroad and in the United States.
